Pyrography Set Of 5 Tips

Pyrography is a craft to burn a design on a clean piece of wood. The edge can be used to burn thin, straight lines. At times, it does not heat up quick enough in contrast to other wood burning tools we've examined. And now its range of applications extends to burning patterns into wood. It is great for doing curved or straight lines, hatching & cross hatching, hair & feathers & undercutting burnings to create more depth.

Straight lines, curves, tight curves and circles, writing and colouring in. Very useful for burning stipples. For large surfaces, I recommend a flat gradient tip in medium to high heat (see Targaryen crest). This style has two types of pens - the fixed tip pen where the tip is permanently set in the hand grip and the interchangeable pen where different wire tips can be used with the hand grip.

There are many different brands of professional woodburning systems on the market. Many people use the all-purpose (universal) tip (A) for burning the outline of designs and for creating straight lines. I often will use the same tip to create a number of the same design over and over again until I instinctively know just the right amount of pressure and how much time is required to get the desired result.

There are many unusual designs on the heads of the tips which create wonderful markings as well as the more traditional points for finer detail. I love the finished result, and I have to say, I'm addicted to wood burning now!
